Digital technologies offer new possibilities for facilitating access to works in alternative formats for visually impaired persons (VIPs).  At the same time, technology can impede such accessibility, for example when technological protection measures are applied to protect content against unauthorized access or use, or when formats used by e-book publishers are not compatible with technological tools commonly used by VIPs.  This section provides information and resources on this complex issue.
