Meet the Stakeholders > Alicia Wise

Director of Universal Access, Elsevier

"Many publishing organisations have been active in the area of accessibility since before the 2007 UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. There is now a growing recognition of the needs of readers with print disabilities and – more importantly – an understanding of how publications can be modified to make them more accessible. This understanding is the direct result of a series of practical projects undertaken in partnership between stakeholders including publishers, authors, charities supporting those with print disabilities, libraries, and technology experts. Together we can make a dramatic difference in the quality of life of people with print disabilities."
